More About The Birth Of Our Babies

I have two beautiful children, both born using the HypnoBirth techniques - though with both I experienced special circumstances which led to neither of them being straightforward! Throughout my first labour I remained calm and positive, supported by my partner who was equally prepared and calm - he was amazing! Our beautiful daughter was born, not in the way we had planned but with love and joy. As is often reported with HypnoBirthing® babies, she turned out to be a calm and happy baby - another of the many benefits of the wonderful HypnoBirthing® technique! Baby number two was stubbornly breech which affected our choices. Once again, though, we were able to feel that we were in control of our birthing experience; he also turned out to be a calm and delightful little chap.

About me:

I was a special needs teacher for many years and have always found great satisfaction in working with children and young people. I qualified as a HypnoBirth® Practitioner in March 2009 (while on maternity leave after the birth of my first baby!) and have since been delighted to share the gift of a calm and joyful birth with many other parents. Now I am extremely proud to be offering BabyCalm® classes to help continue the calmness of your labour and birth into early parenthood. I will also be offering ToddlerCalm classes from April 2012 to continue that calm and happy family journey! I have now also qualified as a hypnotherapist in order to offer specialist, personalised support to families that need it; whether specific, deeper issues around birth, or postnatal issues including anxiety and breastfeeding issues, or other family issues particularly focussing on children with special needs and the complexities these can cause in family life and schooling. I am a member of The National Council for Hypnotherapy, and the Federation of Antenatal Educators.

As part of my interest in promoting natural childbirth and improving birth experiences for families, I am also a member of the Maternity Services Liaison Committee; Sheffield Maternity Forum; and Antenatal Forum.
